The Man I Was
by J'Wellsself worthgriefdark nightforgivenessrebuilding
I was selfish, absorbed in myself,
Totally inconsiderate, lacking spiritual health.
Irresponsible is how I would define me,
In bondage to sin, spiritual captivity.
A living catastrophe, I was prone to faults.
Everything I touched was blown apart.
I could do nothing right, everything went wrong,
Like God cursed the ground I was walking on.
Empty, I felt this hole in my soul.
I tried to fill it with drugs, sex, and Rock 'n' Roll.
Came off my binge and I was still empty.
Looking for the next high and girls who were friendly.
Miserable, I couldn't cope with being sober.
Addiction told me I could lean on its shoulders.
Man, I couldn't wait for the pain to be over.
As years went by I got a little bit colder.
