Long Time
by J'Wellslovegrieffaithhopeforgiveness
We've been through so much, a mother rearing her child.
Not one but eleven, through all the ups and downs.
When I was young I didn't understand the struggles you faced.
We were poor; I couldn't see the pain in your face.
Forced to leave pops because he was an abusive man.
You filed for divorce to give us a better chance.
The road was tough but you took it in.
You taught me the meaning of being strong.
As I got older I could see the pain in your eyes,
From sleepless nights, wondering if I was alive.
The road I was headed down, there was no telling what I would find.
Love covered a multitude of sins I committed in my mind.
Though all have forsaken me, you're still by my side.
The type of tragedy only a mother's love would survive.
When they sentenced me I heard the pain it brought in your life.
Trying to be strong for me, while you were hurting inside.
My pillar that supports me on this long and dark ride.
Keep my eyes on Jesus you told me time after time.
'God has a purpose,' you instilled in my mind.
Your gift to me was great faith in the Divine.
You helped me to see the Light when the sun didn't shine.
Thank you for sticking with me after all this time.
